National Service Training Program

The National Service Training Program includes the core of AmeriCorps training to support the development of skills that AmeriCorps, VISTA, and NCCC members need to effectively serve in the community. The program focuses on building mentoring skills, fostering leadership ability, and nurturing a sense of civic responsibility in participants. The core of AmeriCorps trainings give all members an orientation to the basics of AmeriCorps, develop their diversity awareness, teach important leadership and civic engagement skills and help them plan for life after AmeriCorps as they reflect back on their year of service.

Character Education Training Program

Character education trainings provide development opportunities to youth through integrated character education programs. These trainings teach youth workers to understand their position as role models, teach character by integrating lessons into academic instruction, implement democratic classrooms, and utilize Tribes to support the development of teamwork and respect.

Service Learning Training Program

The Service Learning training program introduces youth workers to service learning. Experienced trainers share project examples, discuss service learning pedagogy, and support the development of projects that link service to the academic standards. Trainings focus on models for developing community partnerships, facilitating youth voice, implementing successful projects, and creating reflection activities with impact.

Volunteer Development Training Program

The Volunteer Development Training Program is designed to prepare participants to support volunteers and ensure high quality service experiences. The program includes training in recruiting high quality volunteers, developing volunteer roles, and retaining volunteers through on-going support and recognition.
