California’s PROMISE supports communities throughout the state in creating positive opportunities for youth. AmeriCorps PROMISE Fellows serve as volunteer coordinators by recruiting and training volunteers to be mentors and tutors to the community’s youth. This partnership of AmeriCorps and America’s PROMISE is designed to ensure that each child has caring relationships with adults, a healthy start, safe places to go after school, marketable skills through effective education, and an opportunity to serve the community. AmeriCorps PROMISE Fellows also recruit community volunteers for local events and National Service Days and facilitate relationships between agencies working to support community youth.
