Make a Difference Day

Each child in the CalSERVES program receives a pumpkin to carve and decorate. Ameri- Corps mentors help with the collection of pumpkin donations and assist the children in carving their pumpkins for CalSERVES Pumpkin Days.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Night

AmeriCorps mentors support students in learning about and writing poems that exemplify the life and values of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All of the CalSERVES programs come together to celebrate as the children perform their original poetry for their parents and community members.

César Chávez Health Fair

CalSERVES hosts its annual Heath Fair at Roseland Elementary, providing free health screenings and services for children and families. AmeriCorps mentors assist by hosting the fair and providing games and activities for the children who attend.

National Youth Service Day

AmeriCorps mentors team up with others in the community to lend a helping hand. Projects take us outside and focus on improving our local environment as we celebrate Earth Day. Projects have included planting hedgerows and removing winter debris from the Laguna de Santa Rosa or cleaning Santa Rosa creeks.

Sonoma County’s Human Race

Joining together with thousands of Sonoma County residents, AmeriCorps mentors raise money to support their students through a variety of efforts. We then gather together to walk and show our support and enthusiasm for our programs.
